Interesting expression of Sangiovese. High altitude vineyard in Radda. 13.5% abv. Harmonious seamless cherry fruit. Not that tart. Not showing the typical Sangiovese bite on the finish. A polished, refined Chianti Classico. Delicious if somewhat atypical. — 4 months ago
Very dark rubi robe, nose of blackcurrant, tarry, tobacco, cherries and a hint of flowers. Very dense and complex mouth, vivid but civilized tannins, medium bodied and long. Classically styled, no excess, top notch juice of the kind you’re left wanting for more. — 2 years ago
Don’t find myself drinking a lot of rose but this is a nice one. Wonderfully round acids, mouth filling, refreshing and delicious. Nice to try something less serious from Istine, always like their stuff. — 4 months ago
Really very delicious and at $45 better than many more expensive Brunellos etc. I like Istine’s entry level Chianti as well, but had not had one of their single vineyard bottlings before this one. Great refinement, juicy dark red fruit, silky mouthfeel with balanced acid and tannins. Decanted 2 hours and had with grilled pork blade steak. Very nice and one to try over the next few years. — 7 months ago

Reminds me of so many of the solid affordable wines we’d find in Italy. Medium body. Firm tannins. Tart fruit first. Then tobacco.
I’ll do this again. — a month ago
