Just when you thought the oldest wine of the night was the 38' FKA Schmitt Pettenthal TBA, this pops up. Again I'll let SC describe the wine again:
Chateau La Mission Haut Brion 1923 was the oldest wine of the pre-auction dinner. Still so fresh with a lovely complex attack, a bit hollow [on the] mid-palate that shows an average vintage, and a long finish with a surprisingly good tannic structure. Stunning!
To add to this, I'd like to say WeinArt did an amazing job sourcing and cellaring this impeccable bottle. Kudos to them! — 7 years ago

How to possibly rate this wine? At 93 years old I thought it would be oxidized and dead, but no, there's life in the bottle still! It started with pretty muted dried fruit and loads of earthy pencil shavings and opened to a soft plumminess that was delicate and lovely. The acid was still kicking and while the tannins have faded into memory, the body was still round. This was education in a bottle:) — 10 years ago
This 100% Chardonnay wine combines the best of the AOC Beaujolais Villages, it is sourced from a combination of vineyards by a well-exposed plateau at the entrance to the village of Fleurie. Since the appellation’s soil is mainly clay-silty, it gives Chardonnay a nice amplitude of expression.
This vintage shows a brilliant pale color, aromas are quite noticeable on baked Barlett pear and quince. The aging process on fine lees for 4 months provides a more intense and complex mouthfeel, less acidic but still balanced with some peachy nuances on the mid-range of the palate as well.
It pairs fantastic with cooked pressed pasta, white meat, seafood and even fruit dessert pies. However; it can be a great standalone wine as well. Cheers! — a year ago

Sweet and tart, delicious and refreshing — 6 years ago
Very high toned fruit in this wine - strawberries and raspberries. The palette evokes a dark cherry feel. Quite high acid. Fun and unique. — 7 years ago

This has all the markings of a mountainside red from volcanic soil, but it’s from the Lisbon seaside and has a subtle power that drives through your palette during a virus that has shut us down. — 6 years ago
