Very nice gigondas - probably best I’ve had. Slightly hot, at 15%, which is my only complaint. I think we may have bought this on a honeymoon trip through the rhone in 2015 - our tastes have certainly changed since then but this is still nice. — 5 years ago

The 2015 Harbison Estate ‘The Trail’ Cabernet Sauvignon is a simply magical wine at this young stage in its development. The aromatics of the wine are quite powerful immediately, as the wine showcases mocha, tar and exotic spices with creme de cassis and shades of black tea all entering the fray. Dense and plush, with a chewy mouthfeel and wondrous texture, this silky wine is not only rich but shows great freshness and finesse. Intense creme de cassis, espresso bean, dusty terroir, creosote with minerals all impress on this gratifying palate. I am leaping with joy for the Stags Leap Cab. Bought it on our honeymoon in 2010 and much like my wife, it has aged beautifully. Wine has beautiful deep red color with light brownish edges. Red fruit on the nose, perfect balance of fruit, earth and oak. One of my faves. — 8 years ago

Lovely wine. It’s wild that recent releases go for $200+ per bottle. Bought for $40 from vinchicago many years ago, after having at Terete in Haro, Rioja on our honeymoon.

Paired with grilled leg of lamb marinated with garlic, rosemary, thyme, and orange. Opened 4 hours ahead and decanted an hour. Not quite as deep as the last bottle (2+ years ago) but still very delicious. Wonderful example of what well made top quality Rioja can be. Incredible depth on the palate and finish. Medium perfect acid. Just delicious. — 10 months ago

First bottle of honeymoon wine at the Mark Hopkins InterContinental In San Francisco! It smells like the best piece of baked brioche bread, the crust specifically. Surprisingly light on the bubbles, almost a pet-nat level of effervescence, but the flavor is straight acidic red fruits, with strawberry and some lemon citrus, and a delicious dry finish. The finish is also mouth drying, but all mineral driven. Very enjoyable pre-dinner sparkling! — 4 years ago
