Easy breezy super drinkable gamay with a very pretty floral nose. Never met a gamay I didn’t like. — 7 years ago
Electricity in a glass - great Montagny from a terrific winemaker. Lemon peel, caramelised lemon, golden apples, pear juice, nutmeg, cardamom, the sense of drinking liquid gold. Packed with creaminess. Sky high acidity, great balance and a never ending finish. — a month ago

Love this style and Chateauneuf du Pape in general. Animale nose (but no Brett!). Also Raspberries Blackberries Earth and Thyme. Sweet red berries on palate with grainy tannins and a touch of bitumen. First introduced to the Wines of Henri Bonneau a few years ago in CDP in a restaurant where I was lucky enough to have had a “Celestines “ which was a WOW Wine for me. Henri passed away last year but his Wines live on Current vintages made by his son. — 7 years ago

Only of a handful of Condrieu I’ve tasted in my lifetime. The viscous, thick mouthfeel is either a turn off or on-as is it’s endive, fennel, and white fruit palate as well. I loved both. Given its youth, it’s all packed in there too tightly, so bottle age & /or decant will only help. But well made & given the steep uptick in Chenin Blanc prices I could see going back again. — 9 months ago

One of the last couple vintages from the master, and while it won’t be as legendary as the finale of 2015 (which is one to hold), the cool 2014 vintage has been managed beautifully, and allows for early drinking. After 2 hours in the decanter it’s wonderfully expressive and aromatic wafting layers of kirsch cherries, saddle leather, camphor and violets. The palate shows striking richness and an impeccable balance of elegance, ripeness and concentration, which is quite the feat in this vintage.
When you think of vintages in Rhône that are considered to be less heralded, such as 2008 for example, typicites just don’t exist for the likes of Bonneau and Rayas. (08 happens to be one of my favorites for both). Ultimately there are no bad vintages for Bonneau, just different ones. Beautiful wine. — 8 days ago
