A small family-owned winery in Mendocino County, bonded in 1982, located at the northwest end of the Anderson Valley on 59 acres of the original Holmes Ranch. Still standing on the property are the now-refurbished ranch house, barn, and the original water tower. Stone and tropical fruit aromas with spice and oak notes. On the palate apple and citrus flavors, with nutty oak tones. Lingering finish ending with mineral characteristics. — 8 years ago
A very good fruit wine. Is sweet and easily my favorite from this winery. — 5 years ago
In 1989 Conundrum was born, started by Charlie Wagner's grandfather mixing wines & ended up with this unique, different and interesting white-wine blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Semillon & Muscat Canelli. Straw yellow with complex aromas from citrus to sweet. Palate showed tastes of sweet tropical fruit, ripe peaches, apricots and melons, with a touch of unusual spices, with an edge, very original. The finish is about medium and paired well with food. Nice! Consistent with last 3 vintages. — 7 years ago
This was bursting with overripe pineapple and rich, squishy tropical fruit. So much fruit it almost came across as cloying. A touch of nuttiness. I feel like I would have preferred a bit more acid or some minerality to balance things out a bit...but that's my opinion. Fans of this style i.e. Rombauer will love this. — 7 years ago
Very original. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 with 13 YEARS in sur lie. Lots of tropical fruit: pineapple, passion fruit; stone fruit: ripe peach; notes of ripe cherry, Granny Smith Apple, intense creamy mousse and creaminess. A delicate perlage and acidity with medium finish. Slightly sweet aftertaste. You can't compare it with a Pinot Noir or any another grape with traditional method. Normally in USA they tend to do the opposite for reds (judge Pinot noirs as cabs - big mistake). In this case (bubbles) is the reverse. — 10 years ago
