Light and refreshing, black cherry notes — 4 years ago
The 2019 Mâcon-Verzé Les Chênes was ordered from the list at Au Fil du Zinc in Chablis, principally because it is not shown whenever I visit Leflaive in Puligny. It acquits itself well. It's fresh on the nose with orchard fruit and white tea, though I would not describe it as complex. However, it exudes presence and concentration. The palate has commendable weight and is well-balanced. The acidity neatly counterbalances the concentrated fruit, dovetailing into a brioche-tinged finish with sufficient salinity to beg another sip. Polished off over dinner, it cost 60 Euros on the list. Money well spent. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2023)

Ugh….thanksgiving is over, back to mass market Pinot…this one from the FIL….not good — 3 years ago
Shared by FIL. Stored in a passive cellar upon release, $18. Double decant. Red fruits on nose faded fast. Nose & palate all leather & plum. Smooth, medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Very good. 12.5% ABV. — 4 years ago
Nice intense nose, lots of fruit, nice acidity and freshness, power and finesse at the same time, nice balance, nice length, Grand Cru feel for sure, gorgeous. — 2 years ago
Light ruby color, beautiful shine. Nose: bright red fruits (strawberry, cherry), peppery, and mineral. Lively mouth with a slamming acidity, constituting the red thread of this tasting, balanced by gourmet notes of juicy fruit, and a beautiful chew in the mouth, with very fine tannins, as expected. Served at 12/13 degrees in summer, it is a perfect treat. 2018 is beginning to reveal welcome evolution notes, supporting a discreet oak aging. To be tasted absolutely within 1/2 years.
A regoûter absolument d’ici 1/2 ans. — 2 years ago

Wow. What a wine. I love this Crozes. Nose is full of pepper, grilled meats, blackberry, black raspberry, dark blueberry and lots of crushed granite. Just awesome. Mashed violets now with air. Palate is rich yet energetic with terrific precision and silky depth. Juicy and full of black fruits and crushed granite. Needs air but wonderfully elegant palate with really high quality tannins. Needs air. Air has helped. More lacey and complete. — 8 months ago
