I struggle with the rating of this wine. I admittedly am fairly new to diving deeper into Alsace Riesling, and so my enthusiasm for this wine May be colored but the fact that I just don’t have the experience to put it into perspective. (First experience drinking quality champagne springs to mind; “it’s all so good!”) This Riesling is very delicious, and it has all of the qualities that I think I need in a good Riesling: high, but functional acid; a broad range of fruit in varying degrees of ripeness; minerality (smoky flint); savory & herbal components; and richness with a body that’s not too puny. I will say that there is a nagging hint in the back of my mind that says that all of this is plastic and lacks a three-dimensionality that I will find in better examples. Virtual tasting with Texture Wines and winemaker Erich Bradley.

This is my second time with this wine in the last 18 months, the first being back in San Antonio for the WNH event when @Joe Lucca
brought it. Joe was the key component to getting the Texture Wines virtual tasting setup. Wonderful time.

I gave this about a two hour decant and it needed every bit of it. In the glass, I was shocked at how golden and amber it was (Erich addressed this during our tasting and said he likes to get a bit of oxygen to it early on to prevent any type of premox later in its life). Meyer lemon, lemon oil, sea salt, oyster shell and crushed limestone dominate the nose. Even some candied pineapple. Electric on the palate with zero trace of oak accompanied by bright citrus. So much tart but flavorful fruit carried by high acidity. Towards the end of night one, the finish had a note of soft pink cotton candy. On day two, the fruit became more rich and honeyed. This is built like grand cru Chablis and isn’t fading for at least 7-10yrs. — 6 years ago

A weighty white wine for cold winter nights. A little of that classic plastic, rubber, petrol on the nose. Beautiful transition on the palate of pear, peaches up front, lemon and lime zest on the mid palate with medium acidity, minerally finish. Paired nicely with a spicy cumin chick pea and spinach dish along with shoshito peppers with lime zest and created with beautiful balancing act on your palate. — 7 years ago
