Only moderately aromatic, barely present dried strawberry and kind of generic cherry aroma. Palate shows this is very well made, with good structure, but also strongly acidic and tannic. May just be shut down and will blossom with time, not sure. — 4 years ago

This dessert wine has a lovely, rich golden tint. The nose offers candied apricot and honey, while the palate shows that yummy stone fruit and a touch of citrus, along with plenty of acidity. — 4 years ago

Icewine Niagara Estate Sparkling Vidal 2019

Deep burnt orange in color with a lighter orange cream mousse and tiny bubbles. Wonderful nose of dried apricots and honeysuckle. This is echoed on the rich (of course) palate. Lowish (medium minus) acidity — it’s Vidal after all — offset by the tingle of the bubbles. Stone fruity moderate finish. Hard to dislike any icewine, even if it’s Vidal, and the bubbles add a surprising element of fun to this one. A nice celebratory dessert wine to drink with your birthday cake or New Year’s pudding. Will likely lose some bubbles after a decade, but should satisfy through 2039 and beyond. — 4 years ago
