Popped and poured; no formal notes. The 2019 Luigi Baudana “Serralunga d’Alba” shows bright red and dark fruits, roses, tar and dried earth. Tannins are high and acid is at least medium+ but one can tell that the typical elegance of Baudana is present. A baby and while it’s very good right now, patience will be rewarded. Should drink well past 2040.

This weekend we opened the 2018 Domenico Clerico Azienda Agricola Di Viberti Giuliana-Monforte D' Alba Barolo.

On the nose there is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, licorice, roses, clay pots and dusty soil.

On the palate there is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, anise, rose hip, leather and dried herbs.

This wine is medium to full bodied medium+ to high acidity and medium+ firm tannins that move into a long red and black fruit leathery finish. Enjoy the weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — a year ago
