Pierre Gonon

"Les Oliviers" Saint-Joseph Marsanne-Roussanne Blend 2016

Stunning. Marzipan, smoke, cheese rind, lemon, almond. Very clean and chiseled but with ample roundness on the finish. Should continue to evolve for some time — 7 months ago

St. Joseph Blanc White Rhone Blend 2013

This was a real surprise. Pale gold in the glass, quince paste, tangerine, floral, a touch nutty, but with real acidic verve—not even remotely tired or flabby. Not quite on the level of Gonon Oliviers but really fantastic. Maybe I should rethink my biases re: rhone whites. Excellent with cast iron chicken with olives and artichokes — 3 years ago

Les Grès Costières-de-Nîmes Red Rhone Blend 2019

Eminently quaffable #costieresdenimes ; brier black/purple berries, cassis, soft spicy aromas, plush on palate with succulent acidity underlayment, dark cocoa and coffee notes mid-palate through finish, tannins that build deceptively with each sip. This could be even better in half a decade but delicious Rhône blend even today - 70% #syrah 30% #grenache . — 5 months ago
