Drinking much younger than expected. Still plenty of fruit and drinking at peak. Should go another 20, no problem! — 6 months ago

La Viallière Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2016

Took so much time to open up but charming on day 2 after a recork in the fridge. Violets, fresh blue-cran-strawberry, fine lardons. Soft texture and lacy tannins. — 3 years ago

Mature Cote-Rotie from Champet from Estate fruit. Mid level color with hints of orange on the edge- resolved tannins and a smooth textured mouth coating flavors. Very good. — 6 years ago

Les Fils à Jo Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over several hours. The 2020 Champet “Les Fils à Jo” pours a deep purple color with a magenta rim and a nearly opaque core. Medium viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, whoa…all. of. the. berries. There are also black plums with some cigar box, new leather, lavender, bacon fat and spices. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium+ tannin, medium+ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose. Finish long and super spicy with a generous helping of black pepper. Even though this is super primary, the quality is on display which makes this a fun wine to try in its youth. That being said, this is built for the long haul and to my palate, the best is yet to come. Best after 2030 and should be great well past 2045. — 10 months ago

@Lyle Fass I have not. In fact, I haven’t had any of Patrick Jasmin’s wines. But I’m kinda a big Levet junkie.

Les Parcelles Brut Champagne Blend

Another great Champagne selection from one of my favorite shops, MCF Rare Wine. 70% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Meunier. Only 1670 cases per year. Lively acid, bubbles, texture and nuanced apple and citrus fruit under the dryness. For a very good price too. Beats many known producers with inflated price tags. — 7 months ago

— 3 years ago
