One of the most surprising wines I have tasted this year. Lost in my cellar for far too long, It finally appeared and I thought there was little chance for a positive experience, but I was in for a more positive experience than I could have imagined. First, the wine was a red and gold amber hue, and of a viscosity I did not expect. Its solid acidity had remained intact, but the wine had sharrified, gaining a complexity and intensity that tastings of 20 years ago did not demonstrate. Instead, this wine reminded me of a complex palo cortado,, and was an extraordinary complement to both Asian and Western dishes I paired it with. Intense, complex nuttiness made the day. The development of this bottle shows that what might otherwise be viewed as a wine gone rogue can sometimes deliver an exquisite surprise! — 9 years ago
