Dundee Hills Melon de Bourgogne 2015

Sparkling wine. Pale yellow, very good clarity. Excellent carbonation, pinpoint bubbles. Yeasty nose. Yeasty and malic flavors, toasty graham cracker finish, good crisp acidity throughout. Fairly dry. An interesting alternative to other sparklers out there. Methode champenoise, Oregon grapes. The Melon grapes are largely neutral here, so it’s all about the aging on the yeast. Purple-red, moderately extracted pigment, very good clarity. Raspberry, cherry, butter, thyme and stone notes in nose. Raspberry, soy sauce and tar flavors, grainy tannin sediment, moderate to high skin astringency, mineral finish with seed bitterness. Needs time to open. Ready to drink after three hours decanting, rounded mouthfeel, excellent depth of fruit - raspberry, cherry, blueberry water plus barrel char. — 2 months ago
