This is potenza arancione from Vecchio Consorzio 1953 x
Skin macerated white wine that truly deserves the orange qualification when you look at its colour. The nose is interesting, it smells a bit like orange bitter meets white vin doux naturel from rivesaltes. I can smell the usual and very aromatic Muscat notes like fresh grape juice, flowers but there is a lively orange peel and orange flesh note too as well as some briochy, yeasty notes. It's quite the ride! There is a waxy thing too. The palate is broad and muscular, with quite nice patisserie notes of yeast, a bit of orange peel, some lemony notes and quite a strong acid drive, there width and matter on the sides, good tannic grip in the rear, leaving a caressing layer of disturbance all over a long finish with these orange peel and lemony notes. There a bit of a buttery, yeasty thing in the mouthfeel in the very end too that tends to stick around for a while. It's not your subtle orange wine which has been a few hours on the skins this one...
