Maischevergoren Himmel Auf Erden II Scheurebe Weissburgunder 2018

This is how you do orange wine. Not oxidative or bitter, it’s vibrant and refreshing, with the maceration contributing structure and dimension instead of weighing it down and obscuring the terroir/varietal characteristics. Lots of dried citrus peel, nectarine, herbs and spice with a touch of yeast. One of the only examples of the genre that kept me reaching for another glass. — 24 days ago

Dominus Estate

Dominus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2004

Initial aromas of cedar box, fruit and nut chocolate and a herbal nuance. With air a note of violet after about 2 hours. On the medium to full bodied palate absolutely fluid and seamless with that berry and dark chocolate note but largely restrained. Such perfect balance that nothing really jumps out. From my limited experience with Napa Valley Cabernets I have always thought that Dominus is the most Bordeaux like of these Cabs. Not surprising when you know the owner Christian Moueix is the owner of Petrus and other right bank icons. Linda Murphy for Jancis said “Could be Christian Moueix’s best Dominus.” — 14 hours ago

Kaefferkopf Alsace Grand Cru White Blend 2012

Vintage 2012 / orange gold colour, like the light in a Rembrandt painting. A smell of passionfruit, ananas, light vanilla. Assemblage of Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Muscat. 24 months on old foudres, bio naturelle wine without sulfite. A taste with butterscotch, a bit a fat wine in the positive meaning: a la, a painting of a beautiful woman like Rubens painted them. Yes, I am happy 🙃, although without covid19 this would be a day I would have been in Alsace for a studytrip 😢 / Paired with a Asian dish with shrimps and squid in oystersauce. — a month ago

Acidic at first and it tastes better after breathing for 15 mins and served chilled. It tastes light and like strawberries. — a month ago

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2012

Wowsa! This is about the best chardonnay nose I have ever smelt. Caramel, toasted hazelnuts, lemon, flint - all swirled together. The palate opens rich and big, with butter and caramel, but then the flinty, mineral notes kick in with a super long citrus finish. A full story. — 19 days ago
