Fabulously strong run while staying in the “Va Cab Lane”. Nicely concentrated with Stewie dark fruit and herbal framing… Both cerebral and functional in fit & finish. Acid is enough at this point but will taper and could become a little flabby if left too long in the cellar. A nice toastiness is detected while not interfering with the single block terroir expression. — 17 days ago
Paired with some prime rib….off the hook!!! — 16 days ago
Reviewing this at 10+ years out. Fantastic concentration similar to GlenManor. Great mouthfeel although the acid is waning a bit. Former Case Gold medal winner — 4 days ago
More than a dozen years from harvest the Veritas Petit Manseng is a truly lush and openly seductive example of the varietal.
The nose evolves from sweet peaches to a more open and opulent honey-dew as it grows on the nose.
The approach of the mouthfeel is velvety smooth but also well-balanced and palate-coating. The finish is delightfully long but in no way at all ‘cloying’, and in fact so balanced it simply brings you right back to the nose.
While it may be tempting to jump into the parade that is the discovery of Virginian Petit Manseng~ the 2008 Veritas example of it is proof that patience has its reward.
We’re entering new territory here, and I’m smitten with it. — 11 days ago
Super clean & structured - compelling food wine! Mouthfeel, texture, acid...tannin: it’s all there. The only thing holding us back from me more distinguish reading would be that it taste profile is rather simple and not indicative of unique terroir or special growing conditions. It’s just “Chardonnay” in taste. This isn’t bad, it’s just not exotic or profoundly intriguing ;) — a month ago
Powerful yet elegant - a real tour de force! Concentration yet pristine in texture. Completely conquered flame grilled bison ribeye and bone-in beef ribeyes. This may be one of top 3 vintage wines ever made in modern Virginia! 100% complete (4 more bottles to evaluate over the next 15yrs). PS: Janice gave this an 18 ;) — 12 days ago
So rich and full bodied — so Cali of Matthieu! Rich tannins close out the dark berry compote acid energy. 1st meal with brisket and 2nd with Texas keto chili. Cheers! — 6 days ago
