2013 vintage.
Macchion dei Lupi is a winery in Suverto, North Maremma, Tuscany. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese blend grown bio-dynamically, hand harvested and aged 24 months in French oak. Aromas of cherry, leather, black plum and Assam black tea.
Flavours of plum, cherry and strawberry with earthiness and great secondary developments. Medium plus acidity with a nice grip of tannins with a smooth finish. This wine begs anything coming off the grill. They also make a 100 % Merlot called Profeta that is outstanding.

This was the less bold newer version of a Tuscan as a follow up to the Super Tuscan before. Nice and mellow wine. Had with Frank and Mariane in Carmel by the Sea. Go figure... Italian in CA? — 7 years ago
