The 2009 vintage is 100% Tempranillo and 14%ABV. From Ribera del Duero DO and vinified Crianza style with 15 months bottle aging subsequent to 1.5 years in French Oak barrels. This wine is elegant and integrated at only 7 years since fruit cultivation. This wine is rich and luscious with deep red fruit of cherry and red berry, baking spice, olive brine, and a hint of fresh cut spruce tips. This wine would be a perfect accompaniment for a Canadian Christmas tree ritual or a festive holiday evening dinner party with braised beef AAA pot roast or rack of lamb and braised root vegetables. With well balanced fruit, medium acidity and medium tannins this wine brings complex aromatics as well as refined mouthfeel of finesse to a structured backbone and elegant minerality. With persistence of briny green olives, deep ripe red berry and spice, this wine has a long finish which keeps giving back. Giving a festive Canadian twist, recommend pairing with Schwartz Montreal Smoked Meat brisket and Kosher pickles. — 11 years ago

Nose of black fruits, cedar, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs and peppercorn.

Full bodied and elegant with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, earth, light vegetables, peppercorn and pencil lead.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is a delicious Tempranillo from Ribera Del Duero in Spain. Rich and spicy. Soft and elegant.

This 7 year old feels young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. However, it is already drinking beautifully.

Complex, tangy and interesting. Feels like a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.

Needs 2 hours of airtime to open up properly.

A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food.

100% Tempranillo grapes were aged in French oak barrels for 24 months.

15% alcohol by volume.

The winery is located near the town of Peñafiel, and its name Oreja (ear) comes from the fact that Convento is located on a bend in the Duero river. This exagerated bend/oxbow is referred to as an oreja or ear shaped. Deep red with purple edges and aromas of red fruits and spice. The palate shows plum and Berry flavors with vanilla spice, cacao and espresso beans. Well balanced soft tannins give way to nice medium+ finish. — 10 years ago
