Yep, valentine's day...had to open something!
Decant for sediment(decent chunky/fine sediment). A thrilling super dark garnet color with some bricking. On the nose: Beautiful expressive notes of plum, black currants, olives, sweet aged cab perfume, boiled meat, smokey cedar. Taste: A soft, creamy, elegant, medium body wine with a little plum, black currants, pencil lead, tobacco, minerals, and a slight blue fruit tea medium plus dry finish with a still there tannic kiss after 23 years. Drink em up, probably on the downside. — 3 years ago
Deep dark garnet in the glass. Lovely ripe black fruit nose. Very nice smooth mouthfeel. Chalky tannins. An hour + decant is preferred. Blue fruit primarily, with black and red filling in. Minerality, stone, oak, vanilla. This is my first bottle of the 17, we’ll see how it ages, but drinking well, though at this point I prefer the 15. — 2 years ago
A beautiful wine from a producer that I’m quite fond of (more on that in a bit). This selection is 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. The fruit is sourced from six appellations: Oakville, Rutherford, Atlas Peak, Diamond Mountain, Stags Leap District, and Chiles Valley. Coming from a vintage with “typical” Napa Valley weather conditions, this bottle is the perfect iteration of Anthology for me to try for the first time. Plush, cool, sweet black & blue fruits - plums, blackberries, boysenberries - laced in Christmas spices, coffee grounds, vanilla, and star anise. On the palate a lovely, velvety texture that accentuates the sensuous plumpness that stands out on the nose. A lovely wine ✨
A quick word on Conn Creek as a producer.
Many years ago when I first “getting into” wine I had a friend who introduced me to Conn Creek (both their Cab and their red blend). After that first exposure to their wine my wife & I began keeping their wines on hand at all times, as they were ideal selections to have around the home for all kinds of occasions. Alas, this is my first Anthology and what a delicious selection it is. — 4 years ago
Black & blue fruit, cedar & tobacco. Should have a long drinking window. — 4 years ago
Delicious- fruit forward, berries, tobacco, slightly tannic. Will pair perfectly with our Porterhouse steak and grilled potato/arugula/crumbled blue cheese salad. — 3 years ago
Hint of blue notes, violets, concentrated and plush black fruits, sweet cassis, black plum, blackberry pie, sweet vanilla, prune, black pepper, graham cracker, cocoa, hot chocolate, just a hint of tobacco and cedar as it opens up more. 2yrs in 100% new french oak. Ripe and high Tannins, palate is well balanced and amazing today. Structure is great. Will age easily 10+ yrs. Drinking well today — 5 years ago
