Domaine Simon Blanchard

Village Montagne Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Approachable Right Bank. Blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet franc from a 0.47 hectare plot in Montaigne Saint Émilion. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in used French oak barrels for 12 months. Intense nose with jammy dark fruit (blackberry, blueberry) aromas, leather, graphite and hints of menthol and violets. Well integrated oak. Medium-to-full bodied, round, juicy blackberry flavors. Smooth, velvety tannins. A great surprise — 2 years ago

Boisson Vivante A table ! Vin de France Sauvignon Blanc 2015

JKT
9.2

Rather Shocking, poured like a medium dark rose and thought it’s really shot but it’s terrific! A natural wine where the sourness mostly mellowed with age? Le Grand Clere Sauvignon 12.5ABV full of life and energy so often ascribed to orange wines but this one is real, with eight years in bottle no less. — a year ago

Vine Hill Ranch

Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Second zoom tasting, this time with master sommelier Hak Soo Kim of Per Se. Chris Blanchard nailed the description with the line “velour not silk.” But Hak Soo stoke the show by matching the wine with his operatic voice. — 4 years ago

Les Fous Valle de Uco Sauvignon Blanc 2022

8.9 actually but I wanted to bring this one up a bit. Very pleasant and refreshing; very dry with delicious brightness. Not deep or rich but a great drink for a great price. — 9 months ago

Les Fous Corte Bordelés Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon 2019

Enjoyed this wine. I’m not as familiar with Mendoza SBs so it was really interesting and unique in comparison to its counterparts from other regions. Medium bodied, pear and lime. Would love to have again. — 3 years ago
