Wine tasting with Ruth at Bin201. Love the bouquet and smoothness. 7/28/22 — 2 years ago
Star bright straw gold. Quince, orange zest, and white pepper on the inviting nose and medium palate which adds a bit of birch(!) on the finish. Extra time on the lees shows itself in texture and body that many California unoaked Chardonnays lack. Not Burgundian by any stretch, but it can go anywhere a lower-end Maconnais can with aplomb. Pork medallions is my current choice. Drink now. — 4 years ago
2018 vintage. More overt oak notes than one normally encounters with the variety, manifesting as blanched almond, birch, and less-than-effusive fruitiness. Lemon, green and golden apple, green grape, chamomile, almond blossom, green plum, mineral. Good length and the faintest whisper of sweetness. True to type and good entry-level introduction to an historic estate. — 4 years ago
Crispy, tart, refreshing. Pears and stone fruit with a hint of minerality. Mouthwatering finish, I keep wanting more! This has everything I love about Riesling wines. I can't believe the price was so reasonable - I will keep an eye out for this one! — 2 months ago
Star bright pale straw. Inviting nose of citrus rind and raw almond. Echoed on the medium palate which adds ginger, underripe mango, and birch. Tangy, medium plus acidity runs from entry to moderate finish. The second white of Valandraud is a lighter, brighter expression of "upper middle-scale" Bordeaux Blanc Sec. Great entry into the style for the New Zealand or modern California SB drinker. Pair with fresh water fish of course, but also fried chicken, roast suckling pig, or vegetarian fare. Drink now through 2025. — 3 years ago
Very cool. Syrah dominated nose; pepperoncini, birch beer, black olive. Lithe and textural with graceful tannins. — 4 years ago

Bright and clear deep gold. Inviting nose and medium full palate of minerals, tart yellow apple, and birch. Medium plus acidity. Light, oak-generated tannins. Lengthy continuing finish. A burly Albariño that drinks like a White Burgundy. Take it to similar places. Drink now through 2026 or so. — 10 months ago
Deep gold. Inviting nose of baked apple and underripe banana. Medium full palate of baked app, birch, tropical fruit, and a hint of vanilla stone al wrapped around a firm backbone of juicy acidity. Typically moderate finish. An almost Burgundian Willamette Valley Chardonnay sourced from four prestigious vineyards and finished in a combination of stainless steel and French oak. Take it anywhere you’d take a fine Meursault including firm white fish, scallops, or rich casseroles. Drink now through 2027. Maybe even beyond. — 4 years ago
