Spring Mountain District Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Excellent. Drank really well and would definitely get again. One of the better smoother cabs we’ve had from Napa in a long time especially with this vintage. Kurt wine — 2 years ago

Petaluma Gap Avid Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019

Beautiful Garnet color. Ripe British strawberries, raspberry, vanilla, and fig preserve. Medium bodied with a faint sweetness. Finish is long for a Pinot Noir with a little heat and medium tannins. After being open in the bottle for two weeks, this wine turned from good to amazing. Definitely will decant for an hour or two next time. — 2 years ago

Sannio Falanghina 2017

Chartreuse pale. Zest of lemon with sweet round melon flavors. Needs a bit more avid for structure but goes well with grilled octopus. — 3 years ago

Azienda Valenti

Puritani Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese 2012

Tonight we are enjoying some wine from the island of Sicily. A 2012 Puritani Etna Rosso from Azienda Valenti Vini 🍷 The #nerellomascalese grapes from this bottle were planted in 2004. As a literature lover I must share th story behind the bottle's name: 'The father-son team of Giovanni and Alessandro Valenti have embarked upon
the journey to produce the very best
wines from their homeland of Mount Etna
in Sicily. Being avid lovers of literature and
music, the names of their wines reflect
this passion. Enrico IV, Henry IV (Enrico
IV) is an Italian play by Luigi Pirandello;
Puritani – I puritani (The Puritans) is an
opera in three acts by Vincenzo Bellini;
Norma is an opera in two acts by
Vincenzo Bellini. Poesia is Poetry in Italian.' Cheers to Italy! 🇮🇹

Weingut Keller

Abts E de Riesling 2016

16' has proven to be a rather backward vintage at this stage, so pair that with what's usually the most linear of the Keller vineyards, and you've got a wine that would challenge even the most avid of Riesling fans. Expectedly grand in its weight and just overtly mineral, with the fruit almost completely disappearing into the background. And as always, smells like the vineyard - the herbs and topsoil. It's just pure rock energy here. May well outlive all of us. — 2 years ago

Nellcôte

500 Chevaux Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Stand it up for a week Major sediment Winery notes, composition
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
aging
21 months in 75% new French oak
cooperage
Treuil, Sylvain, Remond, Orion, Alain Fouquet

500 Chevaux is an automobile racing term; French for “500 horsepower.” Nellcôte founder and vintner Tyler Olbres is an avid car-racing fan, and has himself driven in the Monaco Rallye for Classic Cars. This wine is a high-horsepower Cabernet, meant to be sleek, powerful, and fully able to go the distance.
LAST BOTTLE Notes,

Nellcote was an uber-pricey luxury Cab that recently closed its doors, and, after extensive tasting through all the brilliant, incredibly fine-tuned Cabernets early last year, that none other than Phillip Titus (yep, THAT Phillip Titus, the legend behind CHAPPELLET and others!) made,

Domaine Duroche

Le Clos Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2016

It's been a while since I last used Delectable mainly because I haven't been drinking much (thanks for the kind reminder @Delectable Wine). The whole COVID situation has made it a whole lot harder to find good wines, especially in my hometown. Fortunately, we stumbled upon a list at a restaurant whose owner happens to be an avid wine lover too. While we definitely had to pay a premium for this bottle, it was so good to finally drink a well-stored red in the tropics, and a favourite producer at that.

Typical Duroche elegance, marked with distinct village characters and the vintage's fruity exuberance. The nose is ripe and generous, with fresh black cherries, crushed strawberries, pretty lavender charm, and a touch of earth. A whiff of volatile acidity seems to lift the fruit here. The palate follows with plush and supple texture, darker fruits taking centre stage, some warm spices, and a snappy finish. Expected a little more mineral crunch and a redder fruit profile, but this was still so easy to drink. Transparent and pure. Definitely qualifies as a red kabi.
