This is fantastic. Just dusted granite at first but following the fruit and pure country smells develop beautifully: dew on the trees, fresh picked berries, manure. Piercing tart cherry and sour, mashed, fermenting fruit, and floral scents. Then the palate has the sweetness of cherry candy. Anise. Nutmeg. Long flavors. Completely transparent, all the sediment has settled out. Just beautiful. This is how natural wine should be. — 6 months ago
Well balanced Pinot. Light body, strawberry and light fruit with good acidity. — 5 days ago

Pretty delicious and a value in grand cru if that can exist. — 9 months ago
This was delicious, and a winning blind for me. Having a baseline on the table definitely helped. Although less sweet and intense, I felt the JM Millot was in the same genre as the Métras, with similar texture, floral lift, minerality, and red fruit profile. It was the difference in fruit sweetness that gave it away as being from greater Burgundy, whereby Pinot Noir usually appears less sweet than Gamay to me. The village was definitely a lot harder to identify which made sense upon the reveal - when in doubt, it’s probably from one of the lesser communes (or Morey lol!). Fine, fresh, and energetic, I would have drank a lot more of it if not for the other wines on the table. Another to revisit. — 13 days ago
Started out strong with wild aromatics and transparent fruit, but got astringent by the end. — 9 months ago

Certainly one of the best bottles of Métras I've had. It was just so captivating, with sweet red fruits, roses, and Indian spices bursting out of the glass. Blinded, I went back to the wine time and time again out of shear pleasure instead of scrutiny for identification. Oops, the cat’s out of the bag! There was just this purity and vibrancy that made it so drinkable. How could I resist. Plus the fine, yet “slippery” texture made it so intriguing. Ended long with lively acids and great salinity. As for the blind - played the man and thought it was one of those new age Spanish producers. The sweetness of the fruit and spices threw me a curveball too. Nevertheless, it never took away from how magical this bottle was. A one on the binary scale! — 22 days ago
