Bootleg Wine Works

Prequel Sonoma County Syrah Petite Sirah 2020

Wine has a very deep purple appearance. The aromas are medium intensity of black cherry, black pepper, and cedar. Wine is full bodied, with medium alcohol, dry, medium acidity. Medium flavors of black cherry, pepper, mocha. tannins are medium a gummy texture. Wine is balanced, a well medium to long finish, complex to a point, but could use more of a story. Overall a very good almost outstanding wine. — 6 months ago

Piemonte Cortese 2020

Wine Society - a pleasant Italian wine - mild fruity tones that linger well after the wine has left the mouth. Definitely will order again - would be idle for BBQs and summer evenings. — 2 years ago

Napa Valley Red Blend

2017 vintage: really good! Ripe plum and dark berries/blueberries with pencil lead and bakers chocolate on palate: the dusty tannins have grip and are nicely integrated. Medium opulent finish. Really nice. — 3 months ago

Vinicultural Society Sonoma Pinot Noir 2014

Buena Vista Sonoma County Pinot Noir 2014: Medium-bodied. Moderate tannins & acidity. Strawberry. Cherry. Blackberry. Plum. Oak. Soft finish. Overall, nice structure however sweeter & thinner flavors than I expected yet it was easy drinking and paired nicely with this rare slab of prime rib 😋. Great day to all! Cheers🍷 — 10 months ago

Château Carteau Cotes Daugay

St. Émilion Grand Cru 2019

This is a lot of wine for the money, that money being £10.50 / 37cl from The Wine Society and the wine being the 2019 Cheateau Carteau Côtes Daugay, a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru from the Bertrand family. There’s fresh fruit, which has a distinct bright cherry character, dark chocolate, cranberry and fig, all presented on a plush, harmonious palate with nice acidity and mild tannins. There’s a touch of heat on the finish, but it’s easy to forgive such is this wine’s drinkability.

As I say, available in halves, bottles and magnums from The Wine Society, this is a useful wine to have in the cellar!

Col Solare

Collector's Society Red Mountain Malbec 2017

The 2017 ‘Component Collection’ Malbec shows bright violets with blackberry compote and white pepper dusted mocha tones alongside scorched earth that all take shape in the glass. The palate is plush showing a gorgeous sense of richness and complexity. Blueberry cordial and Black Forest Cake flavors march on parade with espresso bean and dark currants on the palate. The length here is really good, as this beautiful and decadent Malbec wine will provide drinking enjoyment for the next fifteen years. Drink 2021-2036- 94 — 2 years ago
