Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2018

Galloni seems to have it out for SLH Pinots (he also panned Liquid Farm’s recent releases) and I couldn’t disagree more. Earthy, smoked meat, hitting its stride and could go years more. Ed Kurtzman has made wine for Freeman, Roar, August West and Mansfield Dunn and his own label, Sandler, is just fine. And QPR to boot. — 22 days ago

Lazare Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Pleasantly surprised with how approachable this was immediately on pnp. Lots of black and blue fruits and whiff of vanilla in this softly textured juice. This was the first Cabernet I’ve had from Sandler. I met Ed Kurtzman at a Pinot Posse event in Denver 10 years ago and have enjoyed his Sandler and August West wines ever since. The Sandler label offers terrific values -especially if you pick up one of his 4 packs. m.sandlerwine.com — 4 years ago

Boer Vineyard Chalone Pinot Noir 2013

Ripe nose, bright and flavorful with balance, medium light body, rather short finish but it works. This is a Pinot to drink when you want an above average Pinot for not an above average price. Great QPR! — 7 years ago

Cuvee Marcy Pinot Noir 2016

Yet another QPR winner from Sandler. $25 in a 6 pack, drinking like $50 or more. PnP raspberry, baking spice and a touch of vanilla. No brainer. — 4 years ago

Peterson Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Bright, lively, a touch tart, super drinkable. I love Sandler pinot...I don’t think you can find a better value in California. Kudos Ed! No rush on opening these as they won’t peak for some time, but you won’t be disappointed if you do. — 4 years ago

Ramble on Rosé Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2015

White pepper and warm summer red berries. Touch of creaminess on finish, you can tell this is Pinot juice. — 6 years ago
