Beautiful old Cabernet! Dark red in color, bright fruit, beautiful old Cabernet. Wild mushrooms a forest floor with bright bing cherries. — 4 years ago
My 1000th Delectable wine! And quite fitting. This wine is massive. Compared to a 13 O'Shaughnessy Veeder that was consumed alongside, this wine had a bit more. Both were still youthful and primary, the nose of this with a Blackberry and cassis. Entry is just north of full bodied, tannic from the start and stiff to the finish. Black fruits and a hint of lavender and tobacco. Has quite a few years left. This bottle was a victim to experiment and still an easy 95....I feel inclined to give it a 96 but am stopping at 95. Easily a 97 at maturity if my willpower allows it (which it won't). — 5 years ago
Delicious wine. Decanted and drank after about 1 hour. Solid fruit and good structure — 11 days ago
Lemon zest, Stone Fruit and something herbal. Weighty and creamy. Delicious. — 3 years ago
Neat little comparison, as this was tasted alongside a 2009 O'Shaughnessy Mount Veeder Cabernet. It was interesting how these at first were very different, then started to converge, then started to diverge significantly. At the end of the comparison, this one was a two-point winner. This is a nose of classic Napa Cabernet. Blackberry currant, pepper that almost singes your nostril hair. Entry is full-bodied, Blackberry, blueberry, baking spices, currant, licorice, herbs. And just kept adding another layer and another layer. On the finish, softened tannins are noted yet toasted quality is still extremely present. This wine is showing superb integration, and in my opinion it's still probably 3 to 5 years away from the very top of the hill. This one has a long life ahead. — 4 years ago
Wow. Had low expectations, but this was phenomenal. So silky smooth. — 10 months ago
20 years old and still going. This one is definitely not an 87 or 88. Upon the initial cork pop, this one is a 90 at the least. Given about 2 hours to breathe, this one easily ascends to a 93. Tre Colline currently is Howell Mountain property that is owned by O'Shaughnessy. Don't understand the 87 at all! This wine has a Blackberry kind of nose. Has a lot of herb and spice. The middle of this wine has great weight and density. This wine has not started to decline in any way. Is still holding strong through the middle. However, I do not expect this one to improve any more in the bottle. If you have this one, it is time to start drinking. Very nice finish of some pepper, still even a slight bit of tannin. However, this one has done a great job of integration. Is ready to go without a doubt! What a surprise from Beringer ... without much of a surprise here. Definitely a top producer in the Napa Valley. — 5 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, 4% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 3% St. Macaire, 1% Cabernet Franc and 2% Carmenere, aged for 22 months in French oak, 22% new, deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruits with spice, herb and earthy notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, ripe cherry, fig and blueberry compote with currants, cacao, pepper and earthy notes. Fine rustic tannins, good structure, long finish, great mouthfeel, ending with cedar, fruit and earthy character. Wonderful! Very Nice. — 11 days ago
