Wild and animalistic. For sure not something i would expect from a GC. The guests liked it but mostly i think for the GC label. The wine needs tons of air. But it tends to be overoxided before the limited flavors comes through. And i just can’t ignore that. For sure no match at all for an E&M big boy not even close. Pretty harsh tannins, orange rind and essentially almost no fruit. — a month ago

Concentrated deep nose of red fruits (cherry liqueur) and roasted hints. Same feeling on the palate with a silky but very powerful and big texture. Perhaps a bit closed and tight: would need to be drunk again in 3-5 years? — 8 months ago
Glowing strawberry hue. Classic earthy nose with mineral, stone, flint. Bright cherry, soft lavender, punctuated by rocky earth. Fast and bright acid that mellows into a long smoky, cedar finish. Just awesome. — a month ago
The 2021 Chêne Marchand is a powerful, long-lived style with masses of concentration inside a mid-weight package. There's a ripeness of almost tropical fruit alongside nectarines and a touch of green gooseberry. A light creamy flavor joins the fruit. It is impressive, structured and firm. This will go the distance. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, July 2023) — 4 months ago
