Black Ops Shiraz Saperavi Blend 2020

10/2023. Dark color. Nice on the palate. Smooth finish. From Australia and made with Aussie Shiraz grape Saperavi grape from Georgia. Paired well with the petite filet at Hall’s Chophouse. — 2 months ago

Sugarloaf Mountain Proprietary Red Blend 2014

Unbelievable perfect 57%Cab Franc- 43% Merlot blend from Russell Bevan. A fruit forward version if a Cheval Blanc from St.Emilion! Full bodied rich stewed black and blue fruits with hints of mint and herbs, lavender and fully textured with a 1-minute long intense finish. Can’t imagine a better red wine. — 2 years ago

Hemel-En-Aarde Valley Pinot Noir

This is a BIG Pinot. Big, fruit dominated nose, with a little herbal spice on the back end, with hints of black olive and rose permeating throughout. Big palate and body, with an herbal, hay or thyme palate, tannic, with a salinity that’s prominent, with black olive, some tar, and even a smokiness hitting the end, with dark cherry, plum, and a peppery spice showing up loud on the palate. Really good entry to South African Pinot. — 3 months ago

Cabernet Franc 2021

Nick M
9.1

This is nice. It tastes like one of those glou-glou Cab Francs from the Loire. It’s light. It’s a little simple. But it’s delicious and super refreshing with a light chill. I’m not sure if I’d pair it with Sunny Day Real Estate, as suggested on the label, but it was good with a burger. — a year ago

Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Chardonnay 2016

Very vintage golden glinted green, like brass that needs a polish.

Sits here nicely in the last of its best years.

Equal parts vanilla spiced whiskey and fleshy super sweet tropical fruits. Grilled pineapple, starfruit, banana, and orange liqueur.

Ashbourne Pinotage/Cinsault 2018

Wonderful! The grape Pinotage is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, so naturally I figured that a red blend with Pinotage and Cinsault would be a harmonious one. I was not wrong. Great fruit and nicely balanced. 80% Pinotage, 20% Cinsault. 4/12/23. — 8 months ago
