Gibbston Valley

Gibbston Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019

Feels like it could age well. Drinks beautifully now. A little bit funky - slight cow shit vibe but in a good way! Would be £60 if from Burgundy. — a year ago

Central Otago Pinot Noir 2016

Havoc Farm, Gibbston. Probably the best Pinot I have ever had. No, let me restate that. The best Pinot I have ever had. Vibrant, earthy, minerally finesse, intriguing, complex and surprising. What else do you want a wine to be? Really, liked it!!! Paired it with grilled lamb chops and a home made marion berry based sauce. Yum! — 2 years ago

Central Otago Pinot Noir 2020

This is my new go-to pinot. Dark brooding and spicy. Very Gibbston Valley in character - almost up to Valli or Gibbston Valley single vineyard bottlings, but at half the price this is a strong buy. — a year ago

Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019

Very good p/q. Reminds me of Giant Steps Applejack/Sexton. Clean red fruit, lavender, with a deeper spice note. There is Gibbston/Otago deep spice, then you get pure red strawberry. No discernible tannin, and acid is subdued, but at this pricepoint this is a buy. — 2 years ago

Drumborg Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

Very spicy savoury character. Smells like a Gibbston Valley monster. Doesn’t quite have the purity and weight of otago’s best, but still attractive sweet savoury spice with umami, and cedar on entry. Good bite of acid in mid palate gives some length and interest. — 3 years ago

Single Vineyard Selection Ferrous Pinot Noir 2015

All beef, mushroom, alspice, and balsamic strawberry. Very Morniingron, but the power and strength could easily be confused with. A Gibbston Valley.. — 3 years ago

Reserve Tasmania Pinot Noir 2017

3rd in my case of 12. Fabulous pinot. Night after the Gibbston Valley China Terrace, which is big bold, dark and brooding. This is all of that but with more finesse and savoury grip. Not to the point of Burgundian elegance, but very true to the spirit of pinot. Balanced and silky mouthfeel. Big sour cherry and sandalwood explosion if acid and grip. This will run and run. Amazing. — 2 years ago

Subtle flavors. No stainless taste. Maybe some slight oak? — 3 years ago

Home Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

Classic Central Otago dark brooding character, but with more elegance than Gibbston Valley or Valli. The nose is all blue and black fruit, with a vein of cedar spice, Med-full bodied, complex, with a silky mouthfeel. Serious weight, but not heavy. A cross between the dark weight of Otago and a good Gevrey. Strong buy. — 3 years ago
