Domaine Tour Saint Michel

Domaine Tour Saint-Michel

Feminessence Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2017

2017 vintage. Last tasted 11.16.23 (9.5). Pepper, anise/black licorice, Chambord in the nose. Add in tobacco, sea salt and the tiniest hint of ginger (along with the aforementioned nose impressions) once tasted. Medium-heavy body. Smooth and harmonious. Yes, still plenty of tannins on the journey and categorizing this as a “food wine.” For those that cultivate/love tannins, this is currently a warm bath. 5.5.24. — 5 days ago

Château Cos d'Estournel

Les Pagodes de Cos Saint-Estéphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

A caveat - this is direct from the Chateau. I bought a different vintage from a local store and it is quite different. This is just a direct hit for me. Great spine, smooth finish, and great terroir. Even with shipping, this is good value and I just ordered a case of the 2013, 10 years on but direct from chateau. I have a soft spot for Cos having visited with a highly recommended tour with Anais there. We’re fans — 6 months ago

Clos Saint Michel

Châteauneuf-du-Pape White Rhône Blend 2022

Bright gold. Abundant nose of baked apricot. Echoed in the full palate which adds orange rind, dark peach, and a slight hint of stony mineral. Medium acidity; just enough to keep it food friendly. Otherwise it's nicely rich in the mouth and slides smoothly into the lengthy, palate-continuing finish. Rich seafood and poultry dishes are the call to order here, especially with cream sauces. A really complex white at a decent price for the appellation. Drink now through 2025. — 7 months ago

Ermitage du Pic Saint Loup

Tour de Pierres Coteaux du Languedoc Pic St. Loup Grenache Blend 2021

I hadn't had this wine in a couple of vintages and I always have had a sweet spot for it. It's a bit more austere and serious than previous vintages I tasted, and a bit more complex too.
Licorice, blackberry, leather, a touch of mint, some Cola notes and some heat... Wow it's a serious nose, a lot let's playful and fruitful than in my memories. The palate shows a great acid drive, some serious grip, some width, some matter on the edges, a nice blackberry note through and through, along with, again, these Cola notes that I usually associate with natural gamays from the Beaujolais region, some grippy tannins kick off in the rear, powering a long, fruity, grippy finish that lasts for a very long time. These tannins tend to make the wine a bit more austere and complex but the Cola notes remind you it's an organic, natural wine style too. I like it very much. And this is the entry level cuvée of this Domaine!
