Domaine De Ferrand

Desertaux-Ferrand

Côte de Nuits-Villages Chardonnay 2014

First wine after a long (4 weeks) period of just no alcohol. Wine is clearly in transition, more an more wax, butter, vanilla and less tropical fruits. Got to be patiënt — 2 months ago

Ga je na vier weken geen wijn patiënt worden? Waarom? 😛

Nee hoor, gaat prima. Maakt de maaltijd wat saaier, maar we experimenteren veel met allerlei andere gerechten dan normaal. Wijn is geen gemis,

Domaine Henri Naudin-Ferrand

Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Chardonnay 2011

Ate my notes. On the nose there’s preserved lemon, ripe red skinned apple core, light swimming pool/rain, some ginger, and hazelnuts, some mushroom and moss. Medium bodied, clean, balanced, some honey leading to long mineral finish with a bit of lingering hazelnut skin. Could live longer if anyone is a pervert, but this is really nicely developed. — 5 months ago

Mushroom notes can be fun in a White Burgundy or Grower Champagne. If too strong, I do get a but freaked out though.

@Rhonely Boy this was very mild and well integrated. Kinda feels like the genie being let out of the bottle...

Heritiers du Baron Bich Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2013

Blackberry and green pepper on both the nose and pallette. Plummy I suppose too. We unloaded our stuff into the cabin we're staying at and of the box of wine we brought along, this was the first we chose. An outstanding assortment of flavors here. The greens are intriguing in the mix, but it's all kept in line by tannins that are an ever present reminder that these flavor combinations don't happen by accident, but must be guided by someone dedicated to their craft of extracting them and keeping them contained. Very well done here. — 3 months ago

Not the blockbuster I expected compared to the prior ‘07 vintage I’ve had but it was very good and paired well with pork. — 4 months ago

Côte de Nuits Villages Pinot Noir 2014

Sharp-edged on open, this quickly softened in decanter, showing bright berry and twigs on the nose. What followed was a fabulously smooth and nicely delineated smoky red cherry soaked in Earl Grey tea. Fine tannins and a lonnnnng finish. For C$42 a steal! — 7 months ago
