Mas de Daumas Gassac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Coravin pour of the day. A 16-year old wine which is still showing some primary fruit, with black currant and black berry notes, but also some very nice, intoxicating tertiary notes like tar, leather, mushrooms, autumn forest floor. There is even a meaty touch in the rear. Bordeaux meets Provence (mourvedre and syrah) in a glass. The palate is showing a massive acid backbone, carrying this wine for a very long time. There is width, there is matter, in a word, this wine is substance. Blackberry and blackcurrant notes in the front, a chewy, grippy texture, some lively tannins leaving a drying, fine, textural layer over a very long finish which shows multi dimensions : black fruits first, meaty, mushroomy touches then, and a nice bitter note to top it off in the rear. Aimé Guibert was not kidding in Mondovino, his wines show their full potential after more than 7 years of cellar. A wonderful, hedonistic, experience. — 21 hours ago

Moulin de Gassac Red Blend 1989

[68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6.5% Merlot, 6% Malbec, 2% Pinot Noir, 1.5% Tannat, with splashes of Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera.] Fascinating blend in this Cabernet-based wine from the l’Herault area of southern France, according to online ratings, the drinking window for this 36-year-old wine expires this year, but it’s super fresh, with great acidity, and well-stored bottles should continue to age gracefully, still shows solid structure and some good tannins, super layered and complex, very long, lingering finish, great juice!! — 3 months ago

I purchased this wine on release from Kermit Lynch, who was importing this back in those days.

Rosé Frizant Vin de Pays de l'Hérault Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Trying the Mas de Daumas Gassac lineup. Aside from their flagship Languedoc red this might be my fav. It’s rose sparkling with incredibly bright strawberry notes and deep acidity. Light lees flavour. The hefty body and full mousse really make it stand out. Wow. — 22 days ago

Smoking. This is amazing. The earth of a languedoc cab. It has dolcetto, sure only 2% but who does that? It’s so good. Long finish. Complex. 2021. — a month ago
