Cigales, Castilla Y León

Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León Verdejo 2015

A six-year-old old vine Verdejo. Tastes way more aged than I expected… Dried mango, apricot, strong minerality, salinity, Marcona almond, caramel, dried herbs as well. High levels of linear acidity, full bodied but not fat. 14.5%. Grippy phenolics coating the mouth. — 3 days ago

Crianza Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2016

Yes. #riberadelduero on ice. Just chilling a little because we’re at the beach. Never heard of this wine before, obviously some bottled by/for but quite enjoyable. Deep ruby color, subtle aromas of ripe black fruit (plum, cherry and blackberry) little or no oak present in the aromas. On the palate medium+ body, balanced concentration of fruit and structure and acidity. Fine grained smooth tannins and medium finish. Not bad at all. — 8 hours ago

Telmo Rodríguez

Zeta Viñas Viejas de Pegaso Vino de Garnacha 2015

#garnacha #gredos #spain I like Telmo Rodríguez’s Garnachas from Gredos more than many of the others from this region that almost look and taste like rosé and which don’t have cellaring capability because the high alcohol together with low body and structure. — 12 days ago

Reserva Seleccion Especial Toro Tempranillo 2015

Ripe and smooth #toro #tempranillo I enjoy this wine because I feel that it’s representative of what and how Toro is. The clone #tintadetoro has thick skins and more tannin and ages beautifully. — 12 days ago

Lentura Bierzo Garnacha Tintorera Mencía 2018

New producer to me, but this was seriously incredible. Touch reductive at first, but really shined with air. All about the texture for me. Plenty of that dusty strawberry fruit from garnacha tintorera (Alicante) with the metallic and earthy quality Mencia can give you. Amy said it reminded her of cru beaujolais and honestly if I closed my eyes i could imagine foillard. No lie — a day ago

Quintaluna Rueda Verdejo 2016

For an entry level this is an overachiever. Smoke, cream fraiche, mineral-laced citrus, yellow peach, linear moderate minus acidity, grippy texture with the right amount of phenolic bitterness! Intense and focused. Long finish. — 3 days ago

Bodegas y Viñedos Vega Sicilia

Alion Muestra Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2014

Made by famous Vega Sicilia estate. Deep Ruby with an array of aromas, dark fruits, spice, floral and some oak, aged for about 14 months in French oak, mostly new. On the palate flavors of juicy ripe blackberry currants, blueberry & plum with mocha, espresso and licorice wrapped in oak. Firm round taut tannins, great balance with acidity, full body, long finish ends with fruit, oak, spice, and mineral character. Almost starting to open, definitely needs more time! Will age a decade or more!! — 4 days ago

Villa de Corullon Bierzo Mencía 2017

Delectable Wine

Deep, brilliant violet. Powerful red and blue fruit aromas show sharp delineation and pick up suave floral and exotic spice nuances with aeration. Juicy and densely packed, offering appealingly sweet boysenberry and cherry flavors that show a hint of gaminess, underscored by a vein of smoky minerality. Shows solid, spicy thrust on the impressively long finish, which is given shape by smooth, polished tannins. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, June 2021)
