Château La Mondotte

Clos Marsalette

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

2018 vintage. Co-owned by Stephan von Neipperg (La Mondotte and Canon La Gaffelière in Saint-Emilion). A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. Very attractive nose with black cherries, blackberries and strawberry marmelade, mixed with smokey oak and Provence herbs. Medium to full-bodied, with concentrated black fruit, smooth tannin and great spicy length. Super sexy hedonistic Bordeaux. Amazing value too. Highly recommended. — a year ago

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Fantastic this time around. Maybe a bottle issue last time. Maybe a palate issue. Who cares. This is why we do this. Dark fruits, barnyard, gym socks, forest floor and mushroom flavors dominate. Concentrated, good backbone, with velvety tannins. Long life ahead. — 6 years ago

Great 100 pointer which is awesome now but will be epic with some additional time in the bottle. — 7 years ago

Château Troplong Mondot

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

2000 Troplong Mondotte. a nice bordeaux though thin on fruit. i would have liked to see more fruit and more richness. this was thin and the tannins were more astringent than i would expect in a 16 year old wine. — 6 years ago

Love! On the nose: graphite, plum, blueberry, leather, a touch of cedar and tar.The blue fruits in mid palate and finish keep going and going. Plenty of tannins although they are not overwhelming. Fantastic with some simply seasoned filet, and roasted pancetta wrapped asparagus topped with Parmesan. Really enjoyable but could even stand another couple years of aging. — 6 years ago
