Nose has juiced ripe cherries, wet cedar, roses, dry garden soil and faint strawberry jam.
Palate has bright cherry fruit, elderberry jelly, ripe cranberry, wet leather and faint tobacco notes. Great acidity and long finish.
Decanted 5H, this is in the zone now for sure.
Paired with a local whole chicken, 24H brine, Asian style spice rub, cooked on my grill rotisserie with apple wood chips smoking away for about 75m. Potatoes, onions and root vegetables in the roasting pan beneath to catch all the drippings. Crispy skin on the bird and good smoke flavor/penetration in the meat. A great reward for laboring away in the yard and garden all weekend. — 6 days ago
My last bottle and age your Fichots! Please! This is glorious. 19 is close to 12 in spirit I think. What a nose. Ebullient, expressive and pure. Black raspberry and black cherry with a spicey earthy note. Floral and underbrush but clear. Just gorgeous and will only get better with air. Air and Fichots work well together. Ahh, the classic Fichots structure. Stoney, straight and long. Always needs an hour to open at any age but the length, balance and wow that length are there. Incredible fruit amplitude and volume. Sappy and pure. Wonderful finesse has arrived after some air. Just a beautiful wine and one of the best values of red burgundy I’ve ever encountered. It’s great every year but some years like 12/19 are better than other. Also 14. — 11 days ago
Dark fruit, black cherries, some spices and a floral hint. A vivid acidity with generous fruit, and very manageable tannins, nice but will benefit of time in the cellar. 90-91
Du fruit noir, cerises entre autres, épicé et avec une touche florale. Une acidité appuyée en bouche, ce fruit généreux et des tannins fort approchables mais va bénéficier de quelques années en cave. 90-91

A very rare bird almost impossible to find where the production on their 9 plots only amounts to a total of 9000 btls. I discovered their wines when I attended a Bizot tasting & lunch at Marea in Feb 2020 where I found their whole cluster wines had this beautiful purity of fruit & transparency. This btl was no different offering up an amazing nose of red cherry & berry fruits, lush & pure on the palate with baking spices, floral & mineral notes. A wine that is so good now you can drink young but will reward time in the cellar. — 17 hours ago
Pop and pour, bc I was hoping that lightning might strike twice (Ron Hextall, anyone, anyone?). So close (geographically) to the charme aux prêtres, but so different...still very good. On the nose:.much darker, with more plum and a touch of black raspberry, but still the signature house spice. On the palate: blackberry, cinnamon, allspice, fantastic acidity and density...soft tannin on the spicy finish. — 2 days ago
Magnificent junction between Burgundy and Beaujolais, with this light red, floral, red fruits, gamay (?) that pinote splendidly. Bright acidity, finely persistent tannins; perfectly the type of wine that my palate loves.
Magnifique croisement entre Bourgogne et Beaujolais, avec ce rouge léger, floral, fruits rouges, gamay (?) qui pinote assurément. Acidité vives, tanins finement persistants; parfaitement le type de vin dont mon palais raffole. — 12 days ago
@Delectable Wine this is Bruno Clair Marsannay "La Charme Aux Prêtres", which I didn't find in search.
Pop and pour. Could have waited til.next.year based on the NM tasting note, but would be missing out. On the nose: omg, I have been missing this purity: dense, sweet wild strawberry, soft plum, cinnamon spice, soft leafy notes. On the palate: fantastic acidity, strawberry, spice, soft plum. Attenuated tannin on the finish. Absolutely lovely. — 3 days ago
Absolutely stunning. Quite the contrast to the Colombiere, as this is much more serious and structured and the Aux Cras terroir shines through. New oak is more prevalent, of course, but it’s so integrated already and doesn’t get in the way. The nose is incredibly intense and aromas of dark fruit, sweet spice and a wet rock minerality waft from the glass. While this wine is let’s say, more masculine and less sexy than the Colombiere, there is still a seductive Vosne-like perfume that’s so undeniably CLB and lures you in. The palate is powerful and is full of energy, while at the same time remaining focused and seamlessly delineated. To no surprise length is superior to the Colombiere. Totally irresistible now, but boy this will be a knockout down the road. — 6 days ago
Explosive nose full of CLB spice and piercing red fruit and violets. Hardly any reduction here on the pnp. It continued to gain weight and complexity over time. Complexity as well as intensity both on the nose and the palate that is just simply not associated with village wine. It’s so pure, balanced and transparent, and continued to blossom and expand over the course of dinner. Tannins are smooth and fine grained and the finish is very persistent. — 6 days ago
Concentrated and spicy cuvée. The primary notes are associated with a breeding showing notes of undergrowth, tobacco. Tanins require an hour of aeration to deploy. Classic Burgundy. Balanced
Cuvée concentrée et épicée. Les notes primaires sont associées à un élevage faisant ressortir des notes de sous-bois, tabac. Les tanins ont besoin d’une heure d’aération pour se déployer. Bourgogne classique. Équilibré. — 8 days ago
