Jumilla Monastrell 2021

ESF
9.0

Not your standard jammy Monastrell: deep wafting (mostly) dark fruited aromas, licorice & minerals, just oozing - peppery notes as well. Broad smooth on palate (med + weight) not much acidity, rugged tannins leading to modest finish. Great QPR @ Costco — 4 days ago

Alma Mora Malbec 2022

Slight fruity smell and a great taste, not sweet but not dry. In my opinion a well balanced red wine to accompany any moment. — 4 months ago

Señor de Lesmo Rioja Gran Reserva Tempranillo Blend 2010

A dark and dense deep burgundy in the glass with tiny purple accents and no signs of bricking. The nose is rather delightful but you have to give it time. Primarily oak and tobacco notes for the first few hours but the fruit begins to express itself more and more as time goes by. Blue and blackberries with a touch of rhubarb and plums. There’s an earthy element that begins to shine on day two.

There are good values in wine and then there’s this. At fourteen years this is still fresh as a daisy and oh so vibrant. Old school and just so correct. A nice level of complexity and full of personality and charm for days. Full bodied, dry, and savory. The oak never threatens to overwhelm in the mouth, instead you get leather and smoke with enough black fruit. A medium long finish keeps you coming back. An easy favorite.

Juan Gil Jumilla Mourvedre 2017

Juan Gil Jiménez first built his winery in 1916 in Jumilla, and passed it down to his future generations. From 100% Certified Organic Monastrell (or Mourvèdre in France), in chalky, stony soils, aromas of dark berry fruits and woody spice. Aged 12 months in French oak, palate shows blackberry and plum with smoky wood flavors and notes of cacao and cinnamon spice. Soft ripe tannins, medium+ ending with a light toasty earthy character. Great value! Very nice! — 5 months ago

Coma Alta Priorat Grenache Blanc 2018

Made of 100% Garnatxa Blanca (Grenache Blanc) and from a great vintage. The Coma Alta is not as complex as it’s bigger brother Coma Blanca, but offer lots of nuances still, in terms of ripe white fruit, a bit of wood and vanilla, and a bit of spice. Great length! — a month ago

Jumilla Red Blend 2021

Well, here’s to still having power. I don’t want to jinx us but it seems like every time we have a hurricane we lose power! I’m stocked up and ready. I’m in central Florida, in between Gainesville and Orlando. Please pray for those who will get hit the hardest tonight! 🙏🏻 I’ve spent the past few days in our Emergency Operations Center and it’s not supposed to be good especially since the coast hasn’t cleaned up from Helene. — 3 months ago
