Delish! Doesn’t really need to be aerated, compared it to a better Beringer — 3 years ago
This was solid but didn’t really go anywhere great and I wanted it to so bad. Cherry tobacco, blackberry and cedar. This bottle and the 3 others I brought to Wisconsin from Chicago all endured a ride in a wine suitcase in the back of a truck in the 15 degree Midwest winter. 3 of the bottles—Voerzio, Beringer and Harlan Maiden—all performed below expectations. The PM Les Pavots, however, was excellent. While I’ve never opened a Voerzio that young I’ve had consistently better experiences with the same vintages of the Beringer reserve and Maiden. I’m wondering if you cold weather dwellers think the cold transport played some role in what happened here. — 4 years ago
This wine is starting to show a little bit of age I believe. Immediately from cork pop, this wine had sort of an interesting muted nose. Took about 20 minutes to wake up as the middle of this wine was initially quite flat. After if woke up, it was blackberry, truffle, tobacco on the nose which carried over to the palate. The middle of this wine and actually kind of thinned out a little bit, this playing black cherry, black tea. Tobacco note comes back in to the heavier weighted blackberry finish. Very well done! Haven't had too many of these State Lane cabernets from Kapcsandy but the style resembles the old Beringer State Lane quite remarkably. I don't think these are really going to improve much more in the bottle, so if you are lucky enough to have a few of these laying around, it is time to start coming up with a drinking plan! — 3 years ago
Beringer unavailable so we got a bottle of Duckhorn. It was wonderful. — 4 years ago
BIRTHDAY Bundle
So nice! — 2 years ago
Had this for quite some time - aged nicely - once we let it open up, it was quite nice! Perfect for Christmas Eve dinner with herb roasted turkey & all our favorite side dishes. — 4 years ago
This historic winery was purchased by Beringer in 1999 and also owns Meridian, Chateau St. Jean, Napa Ridge, Chateau Souverain and Stags' Leap Winery. A blend of Cab from several top Napa vineyards, aged separately for 19 months then adding a bit of Cab Franc to the final mix. Complex aromas of dark red and black fruits with sweet spice scents. On the palate black cherry and red plum flavors with leather, cacao and coffee, well balanced. Firm soft tannins, lingering finish ending with fruit and oak. Nice! — 4 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Deep Ruby for this Bordeaux blend, aromas of black fruits, herbs and sweet spice. On the palate rich flavors of blackberry and black cherry with smoky oak, leather, vanilla and cacao. Smooth tannins well balanced with savory acidity on a long finish ending with earthy mineral tones. Nice value! — 14 days ago
