Great bandwagon to jump on! Like a violet chocolate fuzzy bear. Great to go now! In fact… so good out of the gate, that instant satisfaction might be its appeal. I played with it 3 nights, and it opened a bit after an hour, but didn’t reveal much more after that ( its great already). $44 at SF Flatiron. Buy of the year. — 2 months ago
Paid $22-23 and am happy with the taste. The label drew me in. — 3 months ago
2018 vintage. Last time tasted, it was corked. Not the case here. Waay more body than your average bear…er…Pessac-Léognan. Deep plum, rosemary and spearmint expressions on the flavor flav profile. Sweet concentration presence. Still drinks more like a second label Pauillac. Thinking this would be a fab cellar candidate to trot out in 15-20 years for giggles/wringer status. — 4 months ago
Uber vintage meets Uber old school producer. Great concentration, black-almost blue color, with cassis, blackberries & some sweaty locker room & gamey notes on nose. Quite smooth & textured on palate, with the gamey ness & black fruits more pronounced. Kinda bear- like emerging from hibernation. Decanted briefly (45/60 mins) but curious how a longer decant would unspool this beast. Accompanied a roasted grapefruit whole chicken & celery salad w various oils. — 19 days ago
Howell Mountain Cab.
Tannins have softened. There is sweetness, oak and a nice blackcurrant finish. — 3 months ago
Berry berry berry, can’t you see? Sometimes you just baby bear me! Berrys, a touch of smoke and a whole heaps of cuteness - big wine for sure. — 3 months ago
2015 surprisingly agréable — 2 months ago
Red and black cherries welcome you along with some forest floor. This is a big boy that gets you in a bear hug and growls . Despite lots of energy, density and power there is balance. A wine that is flirting with you. The ingredients are there , how long it will take to shed its rambunctiousness , I do not know — 2 months ago
The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Single Vineyard Taylors Pass is a wine filled with jump-out-of-the-glass green gooseberry, passion fruit, black currant and lemongrass that will make you crave Thai flavors. It’s a light-bodied, young and punchy style, with a little more concentration than the average bear. There’s a gentle spritz on entry and sweetness to the fruit that you wouldn’t find in the Old World. Bags of flavor and juicy acidity too. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, March 2022)

Nice cab, bit underwhelming. Mostly fruit forward. Finish not the best. Mushroomy, weak tannins, tasty fruit profile. — 17 days ago
