Delicious wine not heavy or strong like some Montepulciano, this is a light flavorful wine with hints of raspberry. Had this with chicken casserole with fresh thyme and sage in a red wine stock. — 2 months ago

I love wines that have lots of flavor! Raspberry, oak, plum, and a touch of pepper on the finish. Very layered but not very heavy. Easy drinking but holds up well to food. Just a hint sweet which lets it do better with some BBQ in my opinion. — 4 years ago
Nose - brick, clay, soil and white flowers. Main tasting notes - under-ripened plum, black cherry and sweet tart candies. Lovely mouth feel, soft in the middle and ending with just a little bit of a tiny zippy acid at the end. This wine is lovely and complex for under $100 bucks. — 3 months ago
This wine is 100% Nerello Mascalese (as are most Etna Rosso wines). Not sure where the folks at Delectable got “red blend” from. Clear dark ruby. Shy but inviting nose of stony black cherry and not so bitter cranberry. All echoed in the medium palate supported by bright acidity (medium plus+) and firm, chalky tannins. Becomes more velvety as the wine opens up. Finish is long and continues the palate highlighting the cranberry and stone aspects with the tannins hanging on to the end. A new Sicilian venture from a premier Tuscan producer yields this excellent example of Etna Nerello Mascalese. Ready for any Mediterranean fare including seafood. Drink now through 2027. — a year ago
After another great webinar hosted by @Antonio Galloni today with legends of Chianti Classico, obviously I had to reach for a bottle. This is a Gran Selezione from Bacci-owned Castello di Bossi in the southern half of the DOCG.
Bright ruby red, unfiltered (as witnessed by a hypnotic haziness in the glass). Nose delivers underripe aromas of greenery, sour cherry, oak, and leaves. On the palate, it's just over medium weight, medium plus alcohol fairly well disguised, dry with medium acidity yet bitter. The tannins are firm and lack finesse. Medium finish length.
The are much better examples of Gran Selezione, even in this price range. But, it's hard to not keep drinking this with gratitude.
