The Debate

Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

I’ll try any 2011 at 60% discount, I’d be a little upset paying release price of over $200.00 though.
Overall just plain boring.

Boulevard Brewing Company

Stormchaser IPA

Lime and slate palate with an oceanic sensibility. Grapefruit zest, lemon-lime cola, grilled lemon and thyme. The nose is sweet tangerine and pronounced citrus, echoing the sentiment. Always a pleasure to chase this mixed issue. .

935 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

I actually give this the nod over the 2017 b cellars missouri hopper from last night. This was tasting great from the get go. Chocolate, lush dark fruits with cherry as the star, touch of leather. 95-96 — a month ago

I don’t get the 17 Reds, seems they added more Mega Purple to make up for the bad vintage

@Paul T- Huntington Beach definitely hit or miss. We’ll be drinking these up and aging the 2018s (and 2019s).

Crossfire Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Really a 9.2 but at 70$ from Last Bottle ups the rating a few notches — 4 months ago

Estate Bottled Hermann Norton 2006

2006. We’ve had this in the cellar since a really fun bike ride across Missouri long ago. I was surprised how much dark rich fruit remained, how smooth the tannins were, and how great it paired with a grilled Nebraska steak! — a month ago

Myriad Cellars

Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Shay A

After my annual Napa trip, and a few days home of drying out, I wanted a well aged Napa cab to bring me back in.

I gave this a 3hr double decant before trying. I snuck a small glass on opening and it was sporting an uber youthful bite and not much on the finish. After I gave it time, it really fleshed out and bulked up quite a bit. Poured alongside a 2012 Alpha Omega Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper, the Myriad was the group favorite, but it obviously depends on a style preference. The AO was more elegant and finesse driven whereas the Myriad was powerful. Had a classical DrCrane scorched earth flair on the nose but plenty of ripe red and black fruits alongside mocha, dark baking spices and sweet toasted oak (very much in the background). The palate was licorice, tar, and mixed dark berry pie with fine grained tannin on the finish. I’d say this is now in a prime window if you can give it time, but I’m hard pressed to say this gets better…I think it just gets different.

Superb wine. It’s actually from the Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper vineyard but Delectable doesn’t have it in the database yet. — 2 months ago
