Mossy with damp leaves and sweet cedar notes. Clay aromas with medium acid and med - tannins. Interesting. Benchmark wine from Armenia.

Not bad. Good fruit but not as much complexity as I anticipated.

Breathtaking in its beauty, nestled in the shadows of biblical Mount Ararat, 1400 meters above sea level, and only steps away from the most ancient of sites (a 6100 year old winery), the vineyards of Zorah are set in the quintessential wine producing region of Armenia, in Yeghegnadzor. A fantastic journey which began in Tuscany, Italy, and led ultimately to the ancestral homeland of its creators. Zorah Karasi 2011

This wine from Armenia was hyped in a way that I expected something riper/more powerful. It was was well structured but medium bodied and slightly tart/funky stemmy old-world. I have another bottle to hit up in the cellar in a few years.

2011 Zorah Karasi Areni Noir - Armenian wine FTW! Pure elegance with dark heresy and plum fruit backed up by nice tannins.

Very serious, but oakier, more “made”, less telluric than 2009.
