Les Deschamps Chénas Cru Gamay
Chénas, Beaujolais, Burgundy, France

Seems more youthful and structured than the bottle I had 6 months ago. Deep magenta. Loads of tangy red berries and dark cherry fruit over pungent granite. Vigorous in the mouth, with assertive fruit and acids. Some chalky tannins too. Very enjoyable now but seems like it will age a few years (contrary to my prior impression)

Red fruits are the star with this one. Loads of crunchy ripe red berries on the nose, complicated by a slightly musky granitic minerality. Intense fruit concentration in the mouth, with nice acids keeping it in balance. There’s a little bit of tannin here, but you have to concentrate on it to discern it underneath the waves of fruit; fairly voluptuous in the mouth. A wine to enjoy young.

Brilliant depth unstructured to this well-made gem. Mineral laden with lively red and black fruit. Damp earth, and subtle allspice.

2014. Pretty & polished. Dry and savory finish. Plush texture. Dried earth. Berry fruit with a dash of tea.

Drinking so nicely right now. And even better after 24h open! Do this still has some aging potential.
Such a lovely wine

Light bodied, fruit/spice notes, very versatile

Nov 26th, 2021Beautifully aromatic with ripe, juicy blueberries, cracked black pepper and a prominent note of violets.
On the palate this is very fruit forward, succulent & juicy, yet with a nice, cool, mineral streak and a granite note in the finish. Seemingly deconstructed yet very polished and with great purity & depth.
A great example of a cru gamay. Delicious stuff.
