Yalumba
Samuel's Garden Collection Triangle Block Eden Valley Shiraz Viognier
Still on really good shape at 5 years old. Hard to tell if the wine has peaked or not. Dark fruit, smooth long finish.

Nov 10th, 2018Continuing on my 'Australia Shiraz Showcase' dozen from Wine Selectors (find out more about this awesome deal here: travellingcorkscrew.com.au/blog/australias-first-families-of-wine ). Next up is the Yalumba 'Triangle Block' 2014 Shiraz from the Eden Valley (South Australia).
It's a blackish ruby red colour in the glass with quite a savoury nose to it. Think leather, spice, bark and stewed plums. It's full of juicy cherry ๐ flavour in the mouth, with plenty of fresh acidity and silky tannins. The finish on this Shiraz seems to go on forever! It matched beautifully with Mr. Spittoon's slow cooked pork shoulder with fennel and veggies on the side ๐
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #sample #tcweekdaywine #tctastingnotes

Plums, raspberries, licorice. Little bit brighter fruit on the medium finish.

Mar 1st, 2020Just so-so. Good aromas, but it was really kind of muted. The 2nd night it was ok. But really opened up on the 3rd night. But by then itโs also starting to go. Not so impressed. If I happen across it again Iโll definitely give it another try. But wonโt go out of my way to get it.
