This winemaker started as a wine tech then started blending.
He is quite technical in his wines.
The 2009 vintage still has some time left but quite drinkable now.
Great wine.

I haven’t had this one in like 5 years. Back then, it was a monstrously blocky, impenetrable mess. Now it’s a bit better, maybe a year past its peak, but still not that good. Lots of warm sandstone and baking spice notes on the nose. A bit of somewhat porty fruit too. A slight note of oxidation is creeping in on the palate, which is still big and somewhat hot. Meh.

Ruby in color with medium intensity and a light red rim.

Clean, soft nose with grape juice (after an hour, changes to sour cherries), blackberries, blueberries, cherries, plums, cranberries, spices, black pepper, licorice and oak.

Medium to full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity. Nicely balanced with Great long legs.

Leathery and dry on the palate with blackberries, cherries, strawberries, leather, dirt, wood, licorice, peppercorn, plums and Cloves.

Medium finish, but mainly secondary flavors and great firm and round tannins.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

What a great blend. Enjoyable right out of the bottle, but even better after an hour of decanting.

Deep purple, rich luscious fruit, lingering finish, a bit "concentrated" but not overly so, well integrated tannins.

I loved this! Spicy, mineral, almost chalky but in a good way.
