Les Boutasses Vendanges Manuelles Côtes du Jura Trousseau
Medium crimson. Soft aromas of roses, cherries, and beeswax. The palate shows cherry and cranberry with lively acidity tempered by medium tannins. Not oxidative at all, which, judging by the few posts for the 2014 vintage, indicates a major change in style. As for this lovely 2015, the fruit sings while it's being accompanied by mineral, acid and tannin. A real gem at a very reasonable price.

Mar 31st, 2017Second Trousseaux of the night and another bust. I give up. Really awful. Some cherry notes but odd and oxidized. Sherry like.
I have been to Arbois in Jura and had plenty of their wines - what happened? Will try again tomorrow. Beats me how the store can pick this up 50$ down the drain.

So color is appropriate. I am not familiar with this region but aromatically it seems as if a surface yeast film was allowed to develop during aging on purpose. Aldehydic aromatic notes with sherry like flavors dominate.
Sharp acidity showcases lemon and grapefruit pith.
I'm guessing the wine is true to type but it is not for me as it is stuck in between stylistic wine and pre-sherry. It is a good memory bookmark though.
Always good when a wine inspires more research!
