The nose is sweeter than the palate but also includes cut grass aromatics. The fruit tastes a bit stewed with cooked herb accents. Really nice mouthfeel rounds out an excellent expression of the grape.

Dark fruit, cocoa, vanilla, dill, and wet earth. M acid, m+ balance, hard tannin. Needs more time.

Very nice. Liked the single vineyard McIntyre and some of their clone specific bottling better. But still very good.

Big, smoky fruit nose of dark cherry, strawberry jam, rhubarb pie, with a loamy undertones. The palate starts with tart fruit as spice notes rise through the middle. The finish comes back to the smokey fruit. Medium tannin, medium plus alcohol, and high acid. Silky smooth from start to finish.

Cherry, cherry, cherry - ripe, tart, and cooked in a pie. Smooth as silk from start to finish.

Cherry and rhubarb pie, hibiscus, blackberry tart, earthy loam, cedar, fresh oak, and a bit of funk on the nose. The palate features dark cherry, cherry cola, black tea, cinnamon, clove, minced meat pie, mace, nutmeg, almond, and chopped dates. High acid, moderate tannins, and high alcohol. Smooth from start to long finish. Wrath rocks, and San Saba deserves the next-door SLH designation.

It is ashamed the San Saba vineyard falls just outside the SLH AVA, because it has always produced lovely, earthy pintos that rival its famous neighbor. Grilled cherry on the nose. Dark cherry on the palate, with superb acid kicking in from mid-palate to a long finish still carrying charred fruit.
