Medium lemon with aromas of stone fruits, spice, floral and citrus adding some lees notes. On the palate flavors of apple, pear & apricot with lemon citrus zest, honeysuckle and nutty notes. Smooth, long creamy finish, well balanced with lively acidity, ending with fruit and wet stone mineral character. Nice! Drink now!

Woodward Canyon has gained a national reputation for producing high quality Chardonnay. This great new release, the 2017 Woodward Canyon ‘Washington State’ Chardonnay, is sourced from a host of great vineyards across the state. The wine was aged in a small percentage of new French oak prior to bottling. Ironically the wine was bottled on my birthday in May, 2018. The nose takes on a ton of appeal with roasted pineapple, toasty oak, Pink Lady apple and brioche aromatics. The palate shows a wonderful tension, astringency and richness. Gravenstein apple, brioche, and Meyer lemon creme brûlée flavors all strut their stuff in the glass. This is a gorgeous wine that has some good cellaring potential. Drink 2019-2029-

Named for the canyon Rick’s family farmed and where the Estate Vineyard is now located, established in 1981 by Rick Small and his wife, Darcey Fugman-Small. Woodward Canyon was the second winery in the Walla Walla Valley and the Smalls were instrumental in obtaining federal approval of the Walla Walla Valley appellation. Nice ripe stone fruit flavors, aged new French oak (20%) with pear and apple flavors, toasty oak, lively acidity, lingering ending with citrus and mineral notes. Very Nice!

Nose of Meyer lemon, cream, honey notes and spring flowers. Lemon, lime, caramel apple, underripe pear, strong edgy minerality, waxy, honeycomb, big round acidity and round, rich, thick finish.

More in the French style with citrus and lemon zest aromas. Apple, pear and just enough malo to give it some richness.
