I had high expectations. Really high expectations. But this bottle -maybe the shipping screwed with it- fell flat. I like that the green pepper is subtle, but the finish hits a concrete wall. It's true to its varietal characteristics but I was just expecting more. Way more.

Lovely (though not $100 lovely) the tannins on this are still pretty burly for a 9 year old wine. It's got some guts, no doubt about that. I will say there is a remarkable consistency in the mouthfeel of the Winesmith wines. They have heft but are never harsh. The tannins range from "melty" (using Clark's terminology here - I would put the Planet Pluto posted earlier in this category) to "firm" (this wine). Yet there is a family resemblance. They're certainly well made.

High-tone vegetal notes on the nose. Geranium and possibly a little brett. These linger on the palate as well with a hint of iodine on the heavy tannins.

Plum, fig, currannts, with plenty of red fruit pop on the nose and continue on the palate. Heavy tannins on finish lead me to believe this wine will age another 10 years.

Delicious black cherries, black plum, red bell pepper, and throw in some black currant. Nose of prune and color of charcoal. This shows well now. 2007 I love you!
