Three Bridges Calabria Durif
I looove my Durifs - so when this baby from Calabria rocked up on my doorstep, well it's safe to say my palate was salivating at the thought of cracking it. Due to leftovers from homemade burger night the night before we were again making BBQ burgers and this made an awesome wingman for them!
The fruit comes from the Riverina region in New South Wales for this wine. It's 14.5% so definitely not shy!
Deep magneta red-purple on the eye with a vibrant savoury nose. Think tar, pencil shavings and oak with a hint of plummy fruits and blueberries. The palate is super smooth but packs a punch with big rich flavours and wonderfully integrated tannins. This wine deserves to be served up with a hearty red meat dish in my opinion.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #gifted #tcweekdaywine #tctastingnotes

Great example of an Aussie durif (petite sirah). Bright fruit up front followed by some darker fruits. As it opened the dark fruits were more prominent and a touch of black pepper showed close to the finish. Good stuff.

Jan 22nd, 2023Very good. First: a red currant, then vanilla and pepper. But with a dry finish. It's an elegant wine. Simple and this is the strenght of it.

Jan 21st, 2022This Duriff (Petite Syrah) is actually produced in the Barossa Valley of Australia. Calabria is the name of family who founded the winery. A powerful and dense wine that is somewhat soft and subtle at the same time. Big aromas and flavors of blackberry, bakers chocolate and vanilla oak. Beautiful structure and depth. Firm grained tannins with a long warming finish. Solid.
