If you're wanting to try some non-typical grape varieties then j suggest placing an order with Calabria Wines. This is another 'out-of-the-box' wine for only $15 from the Calabria team. The Aglianico grape is most widely planted in Southern Italy however there are a number of producers in Aussie who are experimenting with it.

A lovely garnet colour on the eye. Aromas of sweet cherries, plums, bark and baking spice. On the palate it's juicy and rich with vibrant acidity and mouth puckering tannins. It would marry well with a lamb dish or antipasto platter full of sundried tomatoes and prosciutto.

A big thanks to Calabria for this sample bottle. #Gifted

What the Riverina should be growing more of. This wine was a cracker. You know, manipulated but full of potential!

Calabria's 'Private Bin' wine range is one of Australia's most interesting and affordable ranges out there. It's interesting because of the different grape 🍇 varieties used. For instance this $15 bottle is made from the Aglianco grape variety which is grown a lot in the south of Italy. Interestingly enough Oenologist Denis Dubourdieu has said "Aglianico is probably the grape with the longest consumer history of all". For the Calabria family this was the first alternative variety they planted in 2008 to help express their Italian 🇮🇹 heritage.

The 2015 firstly was immensely enjoyable to consume. Both Mr. Spittoon and I couldn't get enough of it! It's a cherry red on the eye with sweet red & black fruits, red licourice and hints of vanilla and leather on the nose. The palate it light and fruity with crunchy acidity and wonderful flavours of fresh plums and cherries 🍒 coming through for me.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #gifted #tcweekdaywine

Was really surprised by this wine seeing the price. It had some complexities and subtle flavors with a soft finish. Will definitely buy some more.
